The St Nicholas 10K: Celebrating Community, Movement and Local Connections
St Nicholas 10K Brings the Community Together
The recent St Nicholas Hospice Care 10K in Bury St Edmunds was a fantastic reminder of the power of community, bringing together runners, volunteers, local organisations and businesses for a wonderful day of activity and support.
As a clinic based in Moreton Hall, we were delighted to attend the event, meet so many familiar and new faces, and experience the incredible atmosphere created by everyone involved. Participants were running for a variety of reasons, from chasing personal bests to supporting a worthwhile cause. Throughout the day there was a genuine sense of encouragement and camaraderie.
Supporting a Great Local Cause
One of the highlights for us was the opportunity to connect with fellow local organisations that share a common goal: helping people live healthier, happier and more active lives.
A special mention must go to St Nicholas Hospice Care, whose work continues to make a profound difference to individuals and families across our community. Events such as the St Nicholas’ 10K encourage physical activity while also raising awareness and support for the invaluable services the charity provides.
Connecting with Local Health and Fitness Partners
We were also pleased to catch up with many local health and fitness partners, including the team from REV Fitness, a fantastic gym located just a few minutes’ walk from our Moreton Hall clinic, and Block Coaching, another great gym based in Bury St Edmunds.
Like us, they are passionate about helping people achieve their health and wellbeing goals. Whether someone is looking to improve their fitness, build strength, recover from an injury or maintain an active lifestyle, access to trusted local support can make all the difference.
Why Collaboration Benefits Everyone
What struck us most during the event was how much can be achieved when local organisations work together.
Physiotherapists, fitness professionals, charities, healthcare providers and community groups all play different roles. However, they share the same objective: helping people feel their best and stay active for longer.
This collaborative approach creates benefits that extend far beyond individual businesses. When expertise is shared and referrals are made to trusted local partners, people can access more joined-up support. A runner recovering from injury may benefit from physiotherapy, strength training and community encouragement. Likewise, someone beginning their fitness journey may gain confidence through guidance from multiple professionals.
By working together, we can help people achieve outcomes that are greater than the sum of their parts.
Looking Ahead
Events like the St Nicholas 10K demonstrate just how strong and supportive the Bury St Edmunds community is. We are proud to be part of it and look forward to continuing to work alongside like-minded organisations that are committed to improving health, wellbeing and quality of life across the area.
Congratulations to every runner who took part, and thank you to all the volunteers, organisers and local businesses who helped make the event such a success.
We look forward to seeing you at the next local event.
